‘Ring’ was commissioned by Stour Valley Arts, for King’s Wood, Challock. The earthwork has a 48m circumference and was inspired by the pre-historic barrows or ancient burial mounds which are found in King’s Wood and nearby.
Rosie Leventon, who has an archeological background, spent four months in residence researching and making the work. She was assisted by John Carnell and Martin Brockman, both local artists / craftsmen.
Stour Valley Arts put the prize money towards the publication of a book “King’s Wood: A Context” with images of commissions from the past decade.
